Frequently Asked Questions

Each approved training provider’s approved course(s) have been reviewed by CCE to ensure that they will adequately prepare applicants specifically for taking the Board Certified Coach Examination.

No. A bachelor’s degree in any field is the minimum level of education approved by the CCE Board of Directors for the BCC. CCE believes there is a strong correlation between level of education and coaching effectiveness

You must send us a sealed official transcript either with your application or directly from your college or university.

Yes. Candidates may choose to take the BCCE in person at a Pearson VUE test center or online—from any private location—through Examity.

You will obtain an unofficial score report, including your score, at the end of the examination.

For both administration formats, CCE will email you within 10 weeks after your examination to provide your score report, including your score, the examination cut score, and next steps based on your score (notification of BCC certification or examination reregistration instructions).

Your application remains open for 3 years. During that period, you are allowed to test up to three times. After that, you must reapply for the BCC.

Candidates must wait 90 days before retesting. Candidates wishing to retake the exam should reregister using their application in the Credentialing Gateway.

CCE publishes multiple examination forms every year. The 90-day waiting period ensures that a new examination form is available. In order to be fair to all examinees and accurately assess your preparedness for coaching, you are not allowed to take the same version of the examination twice.

We do not give scores by phone. CCE sends score reports to candidates via email within 10 weeks after the examination.

For an in-person examination through Pearson VUE, you will receive scheduling information by email once your registration is approved. Pearson VUE has over 900 test centers across every state and in multiple countries. In the United States, there is usually a test center within a 1-hour driving distance of your location. Seats are available during the first 2 weeks of every month except holidays.

For live, remote proctoring with Examity, you may take the examination from any private location. There are additional requirements to ensure privacy of your testing space, described in the BCC Examination Candidate Handbook. Once your application is approved, CCE will provide a link for you to register with Examity. You will be asked to schedule your BCCE administration within a 90-day window.

The BCC application fee is non-refundable, as it costs us to use our time and resources to review your application.

We do not currently publish a study guide because we have not retired any exam questions. However, we do offer a selected reading list.

Absolutely. CCE accepts applications from individuals worldwide. We are able to offer the examination from anywhere using computer-based testing (CBT) at international Pearson VUE test centers and online through Examity, from a private location. Please note, however, that the examination is currently available only in English.

CCE does not automatically issue receipts for payments, as your canceled check or posted credit or debit card payment is considered your receipt. However, if you need a separate receipt, please email us with your request at credentialinfo@cce-global.org.

Yes. ESL courtesy requests should be emailed to accommodations@cce-global.org. The Accommodations Manager will respond with information about the types of documents that can be accepted by CCE for the ESL courtesy and the options that are available to you.

Yes, accommodations must be requested and pre-approved by CCE using the Examination Accommodation Request Form. Candidates also have the option to submit documents from their qualified provider, if all of the required information is included as stated in the Special Examination Accommodations Policy. Please also see the BCC Examination Candidate Handbook for specific scheduling requirements for testing with approved special accommodations at Pearson VUE.

Yes. You may apply for one or more optional designations after you have been certified by simply downloading the designation forms and returning the completed forms with your payment to cce. if approved, you will be awarded a new certificate that includes your approved specialty designations.

Please complete a Continuing Education Listing Request Form and return to CCE with your payment. Once we review it for basic compliance with CCE policies, we will post your listing on CE Opportunities.

No. You may obtain continuing education from any appropriate source as long as it meets our continuing education guidelines. The listings on our website are for your convenience only.

Your payment must be postmarked no later than the due date listed on your annual maintenance fee notice.
