The Human Services-Board Certified Practitioner Examination (HS-BCPE) independently verifies a candidate's human services knowledge. It was created through the collaboration of human services subject matter experts and normed on a population of professionals in the field. The HS-BCPE covers the following areas:
After submitting an application for the Human Services-Board Certified Practitioner (HS-BCP), individuals who meet all of the requirements, including education and experience, will be eligible to sit for the examination. An applicant must pass the HS-BCPE to receive the HS-BCP certification.
You may apply at any time. Once your payment has been processed, CCE will review your application within approximately 10 business days. Upon approval of your application, CCE will send examination registration information to you. The examination is administered via computer-based testing (CBT) at numerous centers in every state and at international locations.
CCE holds applications open for 3 years, during which applicants can test a maximum of three times, with a minimum 90-day wait between examinations.
Students enrolled in participating programs can register for and take the HS-BCPE prior to graduation, without applying for the HS-BCP at the time of the examination. The school will provide the necessary private access code (PAC) and voucher number prior to registration. For more information, see the Student Information page.
If you are taking the examination as a requirement for your college/university, please contact your program for complete instructions regarding on-campus testing.
If you are testing at a public test center as either a practitioner or voluntary student, you will receive an e-mail from Pearson VUE with your candidate ID number. Pearson VUE uses the client candidate ID as an identification number in maintaining your record.
When scheduling an examination at a public test center, be prepared to confirm a location and a preferred date and time for testing, and to provide your candidate ID number. When you contact Pearson VUE to schedule an examination appointment, you will be notified of the time to report to the testing center. Please make a note of it, because you will not receive additional communications confirming your scheduled appointment.
There are two ways to register for the examination:
1.Online registration: This is the preferred method. To use this service:

2. Telephone registration: This method is required for candidates with approved special examination accommodations and optional for all other candidates. Call Pearson VUE at (866) 904-4432 to register for an examination after receipt of the candidate ID number or PAC/voucher. This toll-free number is available from 7 am to 7 pm Central time Monday through Friday. You may experience extended hold times.
Candidates who are authorized by CCE to take the examination will log in to the Credentialing Gateway that is used for their overall HS-BCP application process and will click a link to register with Examity. The examination registration will be automatically uploaded to Examity. The candidate is then taken to the Examity website to schedule administration of the HS-BCPE within a 90-day window.
With both administration formats, candidates can test a maximum of three times during the 3-year period that their HS-BCP application remains open, with a minimum 90-day waiting period between examinations. Only upon passing the HS-BCPE will you be certified as an HS-BCP.
Candidates wishing to retake the examination should reregister using their application in the Credentialing Gateway.
