 South CarolinaApplication and Education Review for Licensure as a Professional Counselor or Professional Counselor / Intern A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE) is required for you to be licensed as a Professional Counselor or a Professional Counselor Intern in the state of South Carolina. In order to be reviewed for an upcoming examination date please have a completed application submitted to CCE at least 3 months prior to the registration deadline. This however is not a guarantee for approval to sit for this particular exam date. An examination registration form will be forwarded to you upon eligibility. The NBCC Examination fee is $120
Information on the NCE and NCMHCE including study materials is available on NBCC's website at www.nbcc.org/depts/exammain.htm. Special Accommodations request must be approved by the South Carolina Board. Request must be in writing with supporting documentation at the time application is submitted to CCE.
