Requirements for the GCDF Education and Experience A combination of the following education and experience is required. Documentation for the highest educational level completed must accompany your application. Experience must be obtained after high school education or GED completed.
Career development experience is required for each educational level. An Experience Form is enclosed in this packet. Training Required Complete 120 hours of training in the 12 GCDF competency areas from a training provider using a curriculum approved by CCE. Provisional Status If you do not meet the 120 hour GCDF training or education/experience requirements, you may be eligible for a two-year provisional certificate. Provisional certification is available for those who are lacking either the 120 hour training or the combined education and experience (but not both). In order to be eligible for the Provisional Certificate, you must be able to complete the required experience or 120 hour training within the two-year period. Those applicants that are awarded the provisional certificate can upgrade to full five-year certification at the point they meet all requirements. Consultation / Supervision Consultation/supervision must be sought at any time you have concerns, questions or doubts that you may be practicing outside of your competency/training. Note: Consultants or supervisors are considered to be licensed or credentialed professionals, such as counselors. GCDF Code of Ethics You must carefully read the GCDF Code of Ethics in this packet.
